A woman of unknown morals went to the monastery to hold a memorial service for her mother. The women who were there and had heard about her started gossiping about her badly. When the Elder, St. George Karsledes, finished, he approached them and reprimanded them in a rather stern tone, saying: “This woman picked up a stone, but you filled a bag full of stones with your gossip, and now you can’t lift it.”
