Living within the Church, the believer feels the grace of the Holy
Spirit of God overshadowing him and protecting him from
the wickedness of demons. With holy Baptism, he is
clothed with Christ as light and grace; with Holy
Communion, he becomes God-bearer and Christ-bearer; with repentance
and holy Confession, he entrusts to God his weaknesses and
falls. With prayer, humility, love, and, in general, the cultivation of
the evangelical commandments, he demonstrates his trust in the
love and word of God. Thus, he puts on the spiritual armor that God
provides, to be able to face the machinery of the devil (see Eph. 6,10-20).
A holy ascetic, John the Vostrinos, said that evil spirits fear
the Baptism, the Holy Communion, and the
Cross that Christians bear more than anything else. We
must diligently safeguard these three Mysteries of God’s
love. Thus, we will express our gratitude to Him
and remain united with Him.
