Advice on Humility

Concerning humility the Lord said:
“When you do all that God commands you, say that we are unworthy
servants”:, “That which appears among men as worthy of honor, God abhors.”
And: “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled.” ” am like a servant among
you.” And: “He who would be first among you must become your servant and
the servant of all.”
“When Simon Peter saw what was done, he fell at the knees of the Lord and
said to him: “Get out of my boat, Lord, for I am a man of sin.
John also said to the Pharisees: “I baptize you with water, but he is coming
who is mightier than I, and I am not worthy to loosen the strap from his
shoes.”
And the Lord, giving us an example of humility, “rises from the table where
they were dining, takes off his garment, takes a towel and girds himself. Then
he puts water in the basin and begins to wash the disciples” feet and wipe
them with the towel he has tied.”
And the Apostle says: ” am truly the last among all the apostles. I am not
worthy to be called an Apostle, for I have persecuted the church of God”
“Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and I am the first among
them.” ” beseech you therefore, I who am a prisoner for the Lord, that you
live in a manner worthy of him who called you to new life. Live with humility,
meekness and patience.” And “Worthy is not the one who makes himself
worthy, but the one whom the Lord commends.” ” I really sought to please
men, I would not be a servant of Christ”
